How old are we?

I was pondering about the fact that human bodies are so temporary, so fragile. Why don't we have bones of titanium, for example? Why aren't we evolved or created in a way that would allow us to live longer, endure more years? We live like 50-100 years, just a random number, pulled out of my arse. Our bodies are temporary. We are born, then we live a few decades and then we die. Some might think that it all ends with death- our human body dies off, we cease to exist, end of story. Not all of us, but quite a bunch are able to pass on their genes, have kids. If we pass on our genes, or at least some of the information we carry with our genes, then isn't it similar to a plant that drops its leaves in the autumn so it could start all over again next spring?
Maybe that genetic information we carry with us is all we need to survive? Maybe life is not about our bodies, but about the information we are able to pass on and carry with us?
What if the genetic information i have in me has something from the very beginning of whatever started this life that led to a man? In that case i'm not only Sven, not only this 34 year old male, but a lot more that is written or hidden in my genetic code. Then i'm not only 34 years but maybe that genetic code has been created during many lifetimes, millions if not billions of years? Then that body would only be a temporary shell to carry on that code and it's not my body that defines me and my age but the code that i carry.
So here's some news about how we, humans share 70% of our genes with some marine worm called
Ptychodera flava http://www.livescience.com/52843-acorn-worm-genome-sequencing.html

Let's take a very theoretical situation. You are an alien race, far away from the planet Earth and somehow you travel with your ship or whatever travelling method you use, you come upon this planet Earth and need to take a piss brake or something. Maybe your ship needs proviant or repairs or who knows... So you land, get your supplies of whatever you need and before you go, you take a shit. That alien excrement somehow happens to contain some parasite that lives in the aliens bowels and that parasite is now on Earth, in that little piece of shit that the alien just left there.
Before you know it, this parasite finds a way to survive in his new habitat, starts to evolve and before you even realize, that little shit-worm has made it to the upper class and evolved into a human being, carrying all that DNA, all that genetic information that came from some distant galaxy, from an aliens gut.
So... Are we the genetic information we carry and should we consider ourselves as old as the genetic information we have, or should we consider us just as old as our temporary bodies are?
